Sick, Tired & Ready to Heal: A Deep Recovery Course for CFS, Autoimmune Illness & Emotional Burnout
“It’s not just what you eat. It’s what you consume — through your eyes, ears, and attention.”
⚠️ Big Idea:
Most people focus on removing toxins from their food or products…
But they completely overlook the digital toxins hijacking their brain and nervous system.
These aren’t neutral tools.
They’re engineered dopamine slot machines that erode your capacity to feel, focus, and rest.
Self-Assessment:
Ask yourself:
- Does your digital use leave you feeling calm or depleted?
- Do you feel resistance or panic when trying to step away?
- Are you avoiding being alone with yourself?
- What type of content dominates your feed or watch history?
- When was the last time you sat in silence or with a book — and felt peace?
📉 What Chronic Digital Use Actually Does:
| Habit | Hidden Cost |
| Constant scrolling | Low-grade anxiety, fractured focus |
| Violent/sensory-intense video games | Triggers fight-or-flight, increases tension |
| Doom-watching news/true crime | Heightens fear responses, normalizes threat |
| Pornography or overstimulation | Blunts real-life pleasure and intimacy |
| Screen time before bed | Disrupts circadian rhythm, lowers melatonin |
| Jumping between tabs/apps | Trains your mind to avoid stillness |
“All of it felt like I was paying with a credit card. One day, the bill came due.”
🔧 James’s Practical Framework
-
Digital Curfew
- No tech before 2 PM or after 5 PM
- Keep mornings and nights sacred for stillness and grounding
-
Screen Hierarchy
- OK: Motivational videos, calm podcasts, comedy, recovery stories
- Avoid: Games, intense shows, murder/crime content, fast-paced editing
-
Platform Prioritization
- Watch on a TV, not phone (more intentional, less addictive)
- Use a journal to write down what you want to look up later
-
Inner Compass Check
- Notice how each app, show, or song makes you feel after
- Eliminate anything that spikes your nervous system or drops your mood
Optional Daily Rule:
“If it doesn’t help me heal, it doesn’t belong in my day.”
Write that somewhere you’ll see it. This is about giving your nervous system a real shot at repair.
📌 Remember:
You’re not broken — you’re overstimulated.
Recovery means recalibrating your inputs, not just your biology.
This module isn’t about restriction — it’s about liberating your attention and reclaiming peace.
